More sewing projects

This one was for my niece Kennedy.  It was just made out of a couple of bandanas.

Sewing Day

My friend Candice came over and gave me my second sewing lesson of the year yesterday.  The project was this little outfit for Isabelle.  I thought it turned out really cute - if you don't look at it closely enough to see how unstraight my stitching is and how many mistakes there really are. 

 The lace on the legs, cut off and recycled from a hand-me-down given to Isabelle.  Candice added this part for me though.

 These fabric roses are everywhere lately and I think they're really cute.  I've been playing around with making them.

Of course, tonight there is no sewing teacher here and I pull out my machine only to find out it is on strike against me and clogging non-stop and not working at all.  Guess I better wait for lesson #3.

A long, hard week

What a crazy week. So, the medical examiner came, but said that the "unofficial" policy is that no one makes it into the long-term care program the first time that they apply and that they never admit babies under the age of 6 months. We'll hear officially in a few weeks, but I don't expect Isabelle to be admitted into the long term care program. Isabelle had a seizure on Wed. night. It was terrifying. Her eyes got big, she stopped breathing, started turning blue and shaking all over. I grabbed her and ran to call 911, but as soon as I picked her up she started breathing again. I called her neurologist and he said it was ok to stay at home. She has been teething and he said that when a baby teeths, gets sick, earaches, fever, etc. and is already predisposed to seizures, they are more likely to have seizures. Its just too much for their little bodies to handle it all. They upped her dosage of seizure meds and we're monitoring her. Went to the cardiologist today. We were hoping that the hole in her heart continued to get smaller, but it didnt from the last time we were there. However, her body is tolerating the extra fluids going through the hole better, so they were able to take her off her heart meds and off high calorie formula for weight gain. They said her body is handling it well now, so they will continue monitoring the hole to see if it heals itself or if they have to have surgery to correct it, but if they do have surgery, it wont be anytime soon, which is good. Originally they told us it would be before her first birthday, but she's doing well enough that they are no longer classifying her as 'under risk of heart failure'. So that is a blessing. Isaac is home, leaving soon for his sister's wedding in Ut. and we'll all be leaving on the 30th for Oregon. Ya! Right now I'm giving Eli a bath, getting him ready for church. There is a CD of primary songs playing that my old roommate sent for him and it is so cute watching him howl along with the songs. He doesn't know the words yet, so he just kind of "aaaah's" along. Kind of sounds like yodeling.

Fingers Crossed

The medical examiner from the insurance agency is coming Tues. morning to see if Isabelle qualifies for the long term care program. It is a really hard program to get into, but if she does, we would no longer have to worry about re-applying for her physical therapy visits every 12 weeks and waiting for the insurance to make a decision. Doing it that way seems to result in gaps in her care while we wait for the insurance. Hopefully she will be accepted so that she can continue her physical therapy and developmental therapy weekly until she no longer needs it. Keep your fingers crossed for us!
