Going Private

Sorry folks, but we're taking our blog private. If you would like to continue viewing our blog, send me your email address. Too many questionable people out there and I want to know who's looking at our pictures.

So Long to Summer

Isaac, Eli and I went to the So Long to Summer Festival tonight. They had a great blues band playing and lots of fun booths. My favorite was the massage therapists giving free chair massages. It was great - here's how our conversation went:
Her: Girl, your back is full of knots! What do you do all day?
Me: I stay at home with my son.
Her: Well, no wonder girlfriend.

ArtVille

Today I took Eli, met some friends and their kids, and we went the ArtVille Arizona Museum for Youth. Eli loved it - almost everything was padded, so when he fell he just kind of bounced off of whatever he fell off of, which was great. There was an employee there who basically had one of my jobs (but got paid) - cleaning up after the kids. Of course, she took it to an extreme that I don't - literally everything that was touched, drooled on or breathed on, was lysoled and wiped down within 5 minutes of the incident. Seriously, if she could spend a day watching me with Eli I think she would go through a couple of Lysol disinfectants trying to get the drool, spit, slobber, germs, food, etc., off me. I thought she was a little extreme for a under 4-year-old children museum, but at least I know the place was clean.

The cutest bedhead ever - but I'm thinking it's time for Eli to get another haircut.

Playing at the park

It was only mid 90's this evening! Woohoo! We went to enjoy the cool weather at the park. Hopefully this isn't a fluke and the weather will continue to drop.

What Happens When I Turn My Back

Tonight began round two of baby-proofing our apt. Round 1 started a few months ago and consisted of putting locks on all the lower cupboards that had our breakable glass dishware and cleaning chemicals. I thought those were annoying to put on - I had no idea. We just spent 2 hours taking off doorknobs to replace them with baby-proofed handles to keep Eli out of his new favorite areas - the laundry room where we keep our garbage can (if I don't watch carefully, I find him covered in our trash), the hall closet (Eli loves it because all of Isaac's tools are in there. We've discovered that scorpions also love it, because all of the scorpions we have found have either been in the closet, or right outside of the closet). We've also are installing a toilet locks, since he thinks the toilet bowl is his own personal baby pond, and locks on the kitchen drawers, since he can now pull them open, reach inside and find all sorts of surprises - such as my scissors and kitchen knifes.

Now whenever I write an entry like this, all my friends with kids leave all-knowing comments, like "you just wait" and "you ain't seen nothing yet". If only there existed a large protective hamster ball I could put him and just let him roll around all day.

The best is turning around and never knowing where I will find him - sitting on the kitchen table, on the couch trying to pull off our wall painting or standing in the dishwasher. My mom said said my sister and I never did such things. My mother-in-law says that if he's anything like Isaac, it's only getting a lot worse.

With our new baby-proffed locks I'm worried about having even less rooms for Eli to play in. Seriously, having him and I confined to our small apt all day is starting to get to us both. What I wouldn't give for a yard for him to play in (and some weather that allowed us to actually go out into the yard). I feel like I am getting cabin fever like Jack Nickelson in The Shining. If I start typing "all work and no play makes Jill a dull girl", you should be worried.

My Little Climber

My life has become much busier lately since Eli learned to walk. Now it has gotten really crazy, since walking isn't enough for Eli anymore - now he wants to climb anything and everything. His favorite is climbing into the blanket basket beside the couch, climbing over the armrest of the couch, and climbing all over the couch. I spend all day watching and catching when he falls off. I remember the good old days when he couldn't even roll over!
