My friend Courtney came over to Hood River and spent the day here yesterday. Mom offered to watch Eli, so I could take her on my favorite hike. It's a beautiful waterfall that you have to hike through a gorge to get to. I've done this hike quite a few times, and every time it is different, depending on how high the water is (you have to hike through the water to get to the waterfall) and in the last few years there has been some log jams that you have to crawl over. Last time I was there with Isaac the water was really low and we never got wet above our knees and there was only a small log jam. Well, it has been a really hard winter here, and I have never seen the water this high, and, to top it off, it was FREEZING! The log jam was enormous, and we were already soaking wet from the waist down by the time we got there. We looked like idiots as we sat on the logs and butt-scooted over them, to afraid to stand up, slip on the logs and break our heads. By the time we got to the other side, we met up with other people, who informed us to get to the waterfall, we would be swimming in water up to our chest at the end. We got close enough to see the waterfall, and kept inching forward in the water, higher and higher, until finally we were freezing and decided we would come back next year when the water was lower. I have done this hike dozens of time, but I've never been so cold or wet. I forgot my camera, but once I get the pictures from Courtney, I'll post them. Until then, here's some pics I found online.

Afterwards, we got lunch, searched for some amazing brownies from Blissful Brownies (their German Chocolate brownie is to die for), and scored when we found a sit n'spin for $3! That was one of my favorite toys when I was a kid! I was so excited and brought it home for Eli to play with. Unfortunately, Eli is still too little to enjoy the sit n' spin and even sadder, I am way to big to comfortably enjoy the sit n'spin, so it's going to sit around for a few more years until Eli can fully enjoy it. Now I just have to find a Pogo Ball, and I will have all my favorite old toys.

Heidi Heidi Heidi Heidi, I was seriously telling one of my friends today that I am friends with a girl who has the worst luck in the world. P.S. I was talking about you. Oh I did see a pogo ball recently somewhere when I was looking for toys for Blake. I remember thinking that I would love to buy it for Blake but it would pretty much just be another thing laying around the house collecting dust because he is way too young for it. I think I saw it in the mall out here, or maybe in the toy section at target. That's generally where I go to get toys. I'm sure you could find one on the internet though if you are serious about it.
The gorge is beautiful! Sorry you got so freezing wet though. Fun that you scored such a great toy for a low price.
Hey I am Lynnettes sister...what hike is this??
